Join us for two nights on the Brazos River
(Hard Shell Kayaks Only). The group will meet in Denton and convoy to
the Brazos River campsite near Possum Kingdom Lake Dam. Anyone is
welcome to meet at the campsite if they choose to leave earlier. This
trip is dependent on the water level of the river. Please watch event
message board for updates and change in plans. Organizer not responsible
for any fees, deposits, medical emergencies, damage to gear or loss of
life. Attend at own risk, must know how to swim and kayak!
No minors or pets on this trip due to potential hazards.

Look for: Organizer holding up orange paper with compass logo.
Participants should bring:
- Your own kayak (Life Jacket & Whistle Required).
- Water tight rubberized dry bags for storing gear.
- Compression stuff sack for sleeping bag.
- Camping gear that will fit in your kayak.
- Water (3-5 gallons), Food, Flashlight, First Aid Kit.
- Bug Repellant, Sun Block, Sun Glasses, Hat.
- 2 way radio w/ NOAA Alerts (Set to channel 5, code 0).
Notice: Hard shell kayaks Only! Absolutely no
canoes, two person kayaks or inflatable kayaks to be used on this
event. They are too slow! If renting from Rochelle's they will try and
talk you into a two person kayak for gear, do not
rent a two person kayak!There is a lot of wind that will catch the
front and you will have a miserable trip and slow the group down to a
crawl. They are also difficult to portage. You should not have so much
gear that you cannot get it into a one person kayak.
Costs: CASH ONLY (See Rochelle's Canoe Rental)
- Parking and Shuttle Fee (camping if you stay at Rochelle's)
- Kayak deposit and rental fee if renting from Rochelle's.
Difficulty (1:Easy - 5:Hard): Rated 5 (wind, heat, portage).
Length of Event: Friday evening through Sunday afternoon.
Environment: Primitive, Temp, Dark, Strong Winds, Fire Bans.
Parking: Fee, Supervised, No past issues known.
Event Plan (Friday thru Sunday):
Friday: Meet at Starbucks in Denton near Walmart,
convoy to below Possum Kingdom Lake Dam (need 2 way radio for on road
communications), Dinner next to fire, Camp over nite. Some sleep in car
so they can get to kayak rental and/or shuttle faster.
Saturday AM: Wake at 5AM, break camp and leave to
drop of kayaks at put-in, drive cars to Rochelle's, Catch shuttle back
to kayak put-in (if picking up rental from Rochelle's go straight to
Rochelle's - you must reserve in advance) Must be at Kayak Put-in by
Saturday PM: After kayaking 16 miles make camp, dinner.
Sunday AM: Break camp, kayak five miles to Rochelle's Take-out.
